Eating Seasonally
What are the benefits of eating seasonally? And how do you find out what is in season?
Seasonal eating is part of eating local. When you eat seasonally, there are two things that happen. One is that you actually eat fresh. It doesn't get any fresher than what your local farmer can supply you from down the street. The second thing is that your pallet doesn't get bored eating the same thing. Obviously, strawberries won't be in season in December. Not unless you live south of the equator.
So what fruits and vegetables are in season each month you might ask? And yes, this varies from month to month. It's not something that goes from four different seasons. Seasonal eating is a monthly variant.

But not all fruits or vegetables will be available seasonally in your area or region. And there are quite a lot of reasons to eat foods just from your unique area that are health related. Take for example, eating tropical fruit when you are in Hawaii or stone fruit when in the Pacific Northwest. However, I will go over that in a future post. For now try to be mindful about eating seasonally to keep things interesting, less costly and just overall better for you. The things in season have vitamins and benefits that you need for that time of year.
